Who’s Marta McCall?

If I had to choose between chocolate and yarn, I'd choose...........um.........yarn of course.......yes yarn, I'm sure of it!!
I knit because I must, it has become like breathing.  I can't imagine a day without knitting (or breathing, for that matter).

I was taught to knit when I was six by our housekeeper, Frau Huber, in Zurich, Switzerland, who was horrified that I didn't know how (she scowled at my mother!) Then she plopped me down and taught me the knit stitch.  Oh how I loved it!  I knit in bed instead of reading, I knit in the back seat of the car, I knit waiting for trains and sometimes at recess.  My very first project was a large white wool square, knit on light blue plastic needles.  The huge hole in the middle of dropped stitches and tangled yarn didn't deter me in the least -- I didn't care! I'd hand the tangled knit to my mother and say, "Can't you figure this out?".  She'd shrug and say she hadn't a clue.  None-the-less, I was hooked for a lifetime.  It's been so many decades of knitting that vanity simply won't let me admit how many.

Since childhood, my knitting has improved, and for the last two years  I've been designing for the magazines and yarn companies (see sixteen of my published designs below). Now I've struck out on my own.  TinkkniT is me.  I am TinkkniT.  (Yes, tink is knit spelled backwards!)  I am delighted to bring the ideas that are crowding my brain directly to you!   There are lots of patterns coming! I can usually count 25 projects in production at a time, in various stages of completion.  Every few days, another bit of knitting seems to pop off the needles and take on a life of its own!

So, that's me, Marta McCall.

Enjoy, knit, don’t forget to breathe, and oh yeah, thank goodness we don’t need to choose between chocolate and yarn!!
